Update 34 from COVID-19 Crisis Task Force
To our community members and attendees,
Salaam Alaykum.
With the commencement of the month of Muharram upon us, the COVID-19 Crisis Task Force continues to monitor the situation surrounding COVID-19 to ensure we can commemorate this month together and in the safest way possible.
The Task Force has temporarily revised their recommendations for safety measures for our four ISIJ of Toronto Centers to be put in place effective 1st Muharram 1444 for the12 days of Muharram. Thereafter the Task Force will reassess and advice accordingly.
Masks
-
The mandatory mask mandate will be reinstated for all indoor events across all ISIJ Centres. This means, everyone attending programs will be required to wear a face mask.
Self-attested screening
-
Refrain from coming to our Centres for in-person events if you have tested positive for COVID-19 or if you have any symptoms consistent with COVID 19 (like fever, chills, sore throat, sinus congestion, cough, shortness of breath).
Vaccinations
-
We strongly recommend that all community members stay up-to-date with COVID 19 vaccinations as recommended by Ontario Public Health. This includes boosters and vaccinations for children.
Tabarruk and Niyaz
-
Tea and Tabarruk will be served outside as takeaway during the 12 days of
Muharram Programs. Ashura Day Niyaz will be served as takeaway.
Procedures and Protocols
- We recommend washing of hands and/or sanitizing when entering the Centres
- There will be no registration required to attend programs
- The ISIJ reserves the right to request attendees showing symptoms to isolate from the rest of the congregation or to leave the Centre
The start of Muharram marks one of the busiest times at our Centres with an increased number of attendees. We want to ensure measures are in place to keep everyone who visits our centres safe. The Task Force will continue to monitor, reassess, and update their recommendations and the Board of Directors will modify these safety measures as needed.
We kindly request your diligence and cooperation as we implement these updated measures for our community’s health and safety.
