Since 1990, Sr. Nargis has been dedicating her services with the ISIJ of Toronto in various capacities. She was a member of the Ladies Committee and a Principal of Thursday night madressa classes where continuous religious development programs were initiated targeted for parents.

In 2003, she was elected as the Chairlady for the ISIJ of Toronto, a post which she held for two terms from 2003-2007. Sr. Nargis was an inspiration to the worldwide community. She also visited many communities including Pakistan where she went to various housing projects of the Zainabiya Trust in Karachi to observe first hand the work done by the community. She encouraged the community there to progress to new heights. Upon her return she shared the community’s great achievement of the Zainabiya Trust in providing housing accommodation to the needy people of our community on various platforms.

At the 9th World Federation Triennial Conference in Dubai in October 2003 and at the subsequent Women’s Convention in Florida, where she spoke on the importance of creating a vibrant community that will be inclusive, inspiring and continuously evolving and she spoke passionately on the importance of engaging women at all levels to make this a reality. Very recently she was appointed as a World Federation Councilor.

The Executive Committee of ISIJ of Toronto and the entire community express their sincere condolences to the family and pray to Allah SWT to grant her family sabr-e- jameel to bear this loss and to place her in the close proximity of the 14 Masumeen a.s. Ameen.

We request you to please remember the marhooma with a recitation of Sure Fateha and Namaze Hadiya e Mayyit.
