Looking to learn a new skill that will benefit your spiritual and physical health? Looking to engage with your community in a new and meaningful way?

The Jaffari Eco Board is pleased to introduce a Home Gardening Initiative where each registrant will receive a pre-prepared kit of all the gardening materials they’ll need to grow 4 different organic plants (a selection of vegetables & herbs). Meanwhile, to ensure we’re there for you every step along the journey, the Eco Board has arranged weekly Virtual Garden touchpoints where a Garden expert will provide growing instructions, share advice, and will be an open forum to ask questions and share experiences. We will also develop a connection with the Qur’an by tying nature to verses that point to his bounties and encourage us to contemplate.

The journey will take a total of 3 months, and the kits will also allow those interested to transplant their crops outdoors, or even continue their indoor growing experience!

How Will This Initiative Work?

  1. Anyone interested must register via Eventbright by Sunday March 7th, 2021 and purchase the Garden Kit ($15)
  2. Garden Kits will be prepared and made available for pickup at JCC or MIC on Saturday March 13th, 2021 (note: COVID-19 protocols will be in effect1).
  3. The first weekly Zoom session will take place on Sunday March 14th at 5:00pm to provide instruction on how to start the indoor gardening journey! Weekly sessions will continue every Sunday at 5pm.

What will the Garden Kit include?

Each Kit will include:

  • 1 Welcome Card
  • 3 * 8cm Biodegradeable Planters
  • 4 Organic seed packets
  • Soil sufficient for growing purposes
  • Eco-friendly bag

What Do I Need to Participate?

Each registrant will simply need to register, pickup the kit from JCC or MIC, and have access to the following:

  • Clean water;
  • Small spray bottle;
  • An indoor space with access to sunlight for 12 hours/day (preferably south-facing);
  • A tray to place planters on

  • An electronic device with Zoom meeting & Whatsapp capabilities.

How will the Weekly Virtual Garden Sessions work?

Every Sunday at 5:00pm, Eco will facilitate a Zoom session with a Garden expert. The Garden expert will provide ‘hands-on’ support and guidance on how to grow your plants successfully. Tips and tricks will be also be provided. The sessions will also include an open question/answer period where participants are encouraged to share their individual experiences, show the crop growth via camera, and seek clarity as needed.

Islamic Dress Code is mandatory for all video participants.
